If you're anything like me, then you must like wine. And, if you like it as much as I do ... well, then you have a pretty embarrassing cork collection. So to make yourself (and me) feel better, let's put those corks to good use.
Try: Lighting a fire with them.
What to do: Store your corks in a sealed jar filled with rubbing alcohol. And, then when you are ready to sit by the fireside, throw a cork or two under your kindling to replace the newspaper ... this should help to get things a blaze a little faster with a lot less fanning.
Why it works: Unlike newspaper that quickly goes up in smoke the cork will burn steadily for a lot longer.
