To those of us who have to drive every day (and on the freeway, no less), we end up with a smattering of bugs all over the front windshield that can not only drive us batty once we try to use that auto-wiper function to clean all that muck off, but can actually impair vision.
To me, I'd rather not smear dead bugs
all over the windshield, making the problem worse. Want a rather quick and easy solution? How about a standard razor blade? I've found that carrying a standard razor blade in a protective little case in the glove compartment works wonders when there's no time to wash the case but you just can't stand all those smeared bugs all over the windshield.
Note: Be careful here, razor blades are dangerous instruments. But, if used with a holder/handle system (you can get these for a dollar or two at any hardware store), light scraping or just sliding that razor blade gently down the windshield will make those bugs easily come off and reveal a nice and clean windshield, perfect for more driving without those annoying visual distractions right in front of you.

I've also found that #000 steel wool does a great job to 'brighten' my windshield. When the wipers start fogging and you see the 'hairs' in the fog, just give it a gentle once-over and it will be clear as day!
ReplyWhy not a window scraper with a razor blade in it. There used to be one called "Widget" (I kid you not). Any hardware store should have a variety of such devices. Look in the paint department. They're MUCH safer as they have handles. That blade you have in the picture is far more appropriate for removing prints from fingers, slashing wrists, 3D body art, etc.
Replydamn, from where did you get this polish blade...
Replyok, while these are great uses...! try using a small bottle of Coca-Cola. Just pour it on the windsheild and all the bugs magically fall off. Just take care not to pour the coke on the paint as it will eat through it... works really well on the grill of the car too!
ReplyYea!
ReplyCoca cola!!! And then you drink it...
Would you drink something else who did this to your car? ;)
