Make your own potpourri

bowl of potpourriPotpourri, sometimes pretty, sometimes smells good, sometimes smells awful. Often time the color you want smells awful and the smell you like is the color of Aunt Mabel's bathroom (shudder). Another puzzling thing about it is that it costs much more than you want to spend for something you only half like.

You would like to make your own but have no idea how. TipNut has a very informative tutorial to help you make your own potpourri. In it they include information on what ingredients do what, what types of fragrance to use and two different ways to make your potpourri. They even have a pronunciation key to be sure you say potpourri correctly. (It's Poe–Poo–Ree by the way.)

Making your own potpourri can assure that you get a fragrance and a color you like in the strength you like. No Aunt Mabel bathroom comparisons or good colors but bad smells. While I can't say that this will cost less you can be more comfortable spending the money knowing you will love the end result.
