HOT ON STYLELIST HOME:

The summer season if filled with one hot day after another. If you are a beach bum this is, indeed, a very good thing. But if you have to spend those hot months looking and smelling your best in the office or at luncheons, the heat can be a daunting foe. Nobody wants a hug from a person with dark wet circles seeping down their sides, nor do employees want to be locked in a conference room that smells more like a locker room. The following tips are aimed more at women since one of them entails shaving, so if you are a man looking for sweat prevention tips the shaving bit is probably not for you.

First of all, a well shaved under arm is going to offer a better smelling under arm. Many of us enjoy a clean shaven under arm area, especially in the summer, so this is a great tip to know. Secondly, while deodorants smell nice, they are not effective in preventing the hardcore sweat issues that plague so many of us. Mitchum cream is supposed to be very good when it comes to cutting down on sweat. It is rumored to be so effective that the protection lasts into the next day. Wearing a lighter, summery fragrance is also a good idea during the hot months. If you do tend to sweat, the lighter smell will not get saturated like a heavier one will. Frequent showers are also a great idea during the heat.

Do you have any tried and true tricks you use to give your under arms a boost in the summer? If so, please share.

My ritual is this: shave, apply crystal deodorant stone (lots of brands, available most places), allow to dry, apply clear gel antiperspirant over that, let that cry, then finish with baby powder.

I don't actually sweat very much, but it's summertime in the big city, and those subway platforms are like EZ-Bake ovens.

I hear that crystal works well. Now if I could stop my face from sweating...

My underarms have sweated more than normal my entire life. I have looked high and low for something to help but never did until now. An anti-perspirant called Certain Dri has been my lord and saviour. You put it on right before you go to bed and it does not wash off in the shower the next morning. It works by shrinking the pores.

The company that makes it should pay me for endorsements, because it's a wonder drug to me.
