The fall issue of
Knitty, the free online knitting (and a little crochet) magazine, has just been posted and is ready for your pattern-perusing pleasure. Amy Singer is the editor of Knitty as well as the author of books such as
No Sheep for You.
Like
Magknits, Knitty is full of patterns designed by knitting celebrities as well as first time designers.
As usual, the first day the new Knitty issue goes live means long loading times for the patterns. So it's not you, it's them. It is worth the wait, featuring everything from
lace to
toys.
Patterns are categorized as Mellow (beginner) to Extraspicy (experienced). The
pattern listing page for each season defines the different levels.
My favorite of the bunch is the
Cherie Amour, which is a lovely fitted sweater -- just made for slimming waists and showing off curves. Though the
Back to Basics sock pattern looks like an interesting variation of the basic sock. And the
Mr. Greenjeans cardigan will be hitting my
Ravelry queue, for when I am done with my holiday stitching.

Color me impressed. This is the best issue of Knitty I've seen in a while. Most of the designs are actually wearable (do even get me STARTED on the summer issue). I think my fave is neiman. The decreases look kind of wonky (if you look at the first pic from the top) but I doubt it's anything a good blocking or a little fiddling with the pattern wouldn't fix.
