In honor of all the kids going
back to school this month,
Baskin-Robbins ice cream shops are hosting an
Oreo Ice Cream Lick-A-Thon in participating stores on September 20th to benefit schools, clubs, and libraries across the country. The object is to see who can eat their ice cream come the fastest -- licking only, please! Winners will become official Lick Champions and, I assume will be called upon to seal envelopes and affix stamps for at least the next six months.
Baskin-Robbins apparently realizes that ice cream cone-licking is a learned art and has thoughtfully provided a few tips on how to be the best licker in your neighborhood:
- Don't bite the top off the ice cream cone or it may fall out of the cone. Much crying will ensue if you're under five. Or over five, actually.
- Make sure to lick evenly all the way around the cone. Uneven licking means one side will melt faster than the other and make a great, goopy mess. Again, crying may occur.
- When the ice cream has been licked down to the cone, bite the cone away in a circular pattern all the way around until there's just a little bit left. Then, pop it in your mouth and claim your title as Lick Champion.
No word on how to avoid brain freeze.
