If you're an aluminum can recycler who means business, my guess is that you have one of those poly or plastic can crushers screwed to a wall in your garage or utility room. These devices crush cans to a fraction of their original size, and allow you to fit more in your recycling bag.
Would'ja believe (
an ode to Don Adams) there are more scientific ways to crush cans for recycling? An electromagnetic can crusher sounds like a
frat boy/engineering major's pet project, but apparently these devices really exist.
If you're into building your own power tools and devices, and know a little about electronic capacitance, check this project out. If you're into recycling aluminum (beer) cans, this may be right up your alley. Well, figuratively speaking, of cource.
