Battery hacks run amok

Oh my -- if you're into hacking portable power sources, you'll love this. It's pretty well-known by now that many larger batteries harbor smaller batteries (wired together) to produce the needed power. Those larger batteries can be torn apart and smaller batteries salvaged for use in other devices. That not only is true in many cases, but it's way cheaper than buying a four-pack of AA batteries at the corner store. Remember, supply and demand run the price business, not cost to manufacturer (well, in some cases). If you could pop the top of a lantern battery and find more than 20 AA batteries in there for a cost of $7 or so, you'll get the picture.
So, if you want the complete and comprehensive lowdown on how to find and use batteries in the most cost-efficient manner possible, hit this and prepare to be awed a little. If you find that one of these battery hacks does not work as intended, please let us know. My guess is that most of them work perfectly.

I've opened a 9V and instead of 6 AAAA it was a plastic block with 6 horizontal cells stacked on top of each other. It was a cheap brand and was interesting in its own right, since it was clear, but not useful.
Zinc metal AAs don't have anywhere near as much juice in them as normal AAs. If you have problems with batteries dying from shelf life it would be a good deal, but trying to use AAs from a lantern battery in your camera will be disappointing.
