American Honda Motor Corp., in cooperation with the
Consumer Product Safety Commission, has issued a voluntary recall of approximately 167,000 Honda walk-behind lawnmowers, due to a potential laceration hazard. The company states that the cutting blades could rotate under power when the control lever is released and the spinning blade poses a laceration risk to the user. No injuries have been reported.
The model numbers for the walk-behind lawnmowers, manufactured in the United States and sold by Home Depot and Honda Lawn and Garden dealers, are
HRB217HXA, HRX217HXA and HRX217HMA. You can find the model and serial numbers on the upper rear of the mower deck on the red and gray lawnmowers. The lawnmowers were sold nationwide from January 2003 through November 2007.
Stop using the lawnmower immediately and contact any Honda Lawn and Garden dealer for a free repair. You can also contact Honda at (800) 426-7701 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's Web site at www.hondapowerequipment.com.
