Cardboard box storage system

Sewing supplies, scrapbook supplies, quilting supplies; you name it, if you don't store your small supplies properly, they can end up in a jumbled mess. If you haven't broken down yet and bought yourself a nice permanent storage system, wait awhile longer and make a cardboard box storage system.wikiHow has step by step instructions, showing exactly how to put the storage system together. You should be able to find boxes at your local grocery store, order them online, or check out dumpsters for discarded boxes that are still in great condition.
While I think that a cardboard box is a nice temporary fix for storing small items, I would in no way promote using cardboard boxes as a permanent storage container, unless of course, you come up with a DIY way to make them permanent, and a better way to make them stay upright and fastened to the wall.

I think you're totally right, Anna :) this isn't all that great for permanent storage. I was told by a trained archivist that cardboard box factories are notorious havens for silverfish (the insect) and some boxes come with silverfish eggs pre-included. They also aren't acid-free, TMK, which can be an issue when storing paper or fabric especially. (Probably wouldn't hurt metal or glass, much.)
That said, I think a lot of the problems with cardboard boxes are overstated for relatively short-term storage, if you get ones that aren't infested to begin with, and the best way to do that is to avoid boxes from grocery stores.
Corrugated plastic boxes used with this pattern might be OK for semi-permanent storage of certain kinds of items & I certainly agree it's an awesome idea if you can pull it off.

i think that it is just temporarily storage for do it yourself users but these boxes are very useful for D.I.Y Movers because they just put the stuff in it and their work gets faster and swift moving is accomplished but these boxes are not durable enough for longer stay and for cherishable and fragile goods....
