Gutter guards still need to be removed every few years to clean out the gunk that accumulates in the gutter. Leaves will sit on top of the guard and eventually rot, the residue falls into the gutter and eventually will clog them. I never tried this but my neighbor did -- he sprinkled some birdseed in the gutters. The birds were tossing the leaves and twigs out to get to the seed! Sure was funny to watch!

Buy Flip Clean gutters. You can clean your gutters every day and it takes about 5 minutes to clean them! 3 minutes are used going from the front to the back of your house!! We have them and we love them. No more ladders, no more crawling up on the roof. Google Flip Clean Gutters to get more info. I'm not a salesman/person - just a plain old homeowner who doesn't want her husband getting killed or injured by falling off the roof.

Gee, nice dark green leaves in the background. Fluffy brown leaves that he is cleaning from the gutter and downspout. Yep, be sure and clean your gutters often like he says but something does not add up.

That was the lamest demo I have ever seen. I dont have leaf build up in the middle of summer (note hes just wearing a t-shirt) and second, my leaves are usually about 90% soaking , slimy, and wet. There really is not an easy way to clean the gutters. I have taken blowers on the roof, shop vacs, garbage bags by hand, garden hose with sprayer nozzle, what ever. Its just not easy and not very fast.

Do not buy gutter guards. I don't care what he says they don't work.

Actually, you are totally incorrect. It depends upon what brand of gutter guards you buy. I install the absolute best guards in the industry and they absolutely work. No debris enters the gutters. Only the water.

DO NOT buy gutter guards. I don't care what eric says they don't work and he's not a gutter installer.
    They still clog.

Cleanest driest leave ever seen. I agree, Plus I also agree, even with gutter gaurds the gutters need cleaned every couple of years. I find that a leave blower works very well for cleaning gutters, and they even sell a pvc extension with an elbow to attach to you leaf blower to assist in this matter.

The "gunk" I pull from my gutters doesn't look like that and even though I don't have a niffy hand tool I use a garden spade and I still wind up with banged up knuckles and cuts and scrape from where the roof shingles hang over my gutter and that is with gloves on. And cleaning out my gutters most are on back of my 3 bedroom house takes the better part of the day. Oh eric Stromer...just must be "Superman"!

I .use something called flo-free. Its like a sponge in your gutter with a silicone-like coating on the top.You still have to clean but all that gunk doesn't sit in your gutter.

I too have gunk in my gutters. I clean my lower gutters with a "Shepards Hook" nozzle attached to my garden hose available at major home improvemet retailers. It works very well. Only takes an hour or so. I have to chose a warm day and wear a raincoat and safety glasses because it is very difficult to stay clean while getting a gutter shower. Try it, it works and have fun.

I just cleaned my gutters out again Friday and I have tried several ways. The best and most efficient way that I have found is to use a blower from the roof. Only one time up and down the ladder. Just walk around the edge of the house with the blower and blow out the gutters and down spouts.
