Just one good reason to do so: corralling toys and books in a room other than your child's bedroom may help your little one settle down easier at night. Also, a playroom can easily be converted into a cool hang-out room for tweens and teens down the road.

Thanks for this post! I will be making over part of my basement in to a playroom for my son (and hopefully one more child). I had already planned to do a chalkboard chair rail (color undecided -see link below for awesome options), but i never thought of the cork part.... I will be adding that element now.
