# # Apply colored polish Some people insist on a base coat, personally I just don't have that much time to spend on my nails and I haven't found it to be necessary as long as I prepared my nails properly. Carefully apply your first coat of colored polish. Start at the base and paint upwards for an even coat. Wait 10 minutes or until it is completely dry, and add a second coat.
