Repair Bathtub Holes

What You Do and Don't Need

What You Do and Don't Need

Here's why you really want this repair kit: the three small tubes of putty in different sizes. That's plenty of putty for your average minor repair job. While I didn't really want to drop $19 on one little repair kit, I wasted a lot of time roaming the aisles of Lowe's and Home Depot only to discover it was a choice between the everything-included kits and the big buckets of fiberglass putty that professionals would buy. Oh well. You can't be super-frugal every day. What you don't need is the pair of disposable gloves. Handling putty requires dexterity and there's no way you'll accomplish this task properly wearing these gloves. Chuck 'em.You can also chuck the plastic putty knife. It's too bendy to be useful. Use a standard putty knife with a metal blade or, failing that, a smooth-blade kitchen knife.
