Food Bloggers Fight Content Thieves

Feb 23rd 2009 9:51PM I've had scrapers lift my posts wholesale. I filed complaints with Google, which removed the offending posts on its Blogger blogs (but did not shut down the blogs entirely, even though ALL the content was stolen). And I switched my blog feed to the short form for a while so the content could not easily be scraped that way.

I'm appalled at the response from Erin Rosas to the request that she stop using someone else's copyrighted image. It was unprofessional and frankly stupid.

A Taste of Dragonfruit - Feast Your Eyes

Dec 4th 2008 12:12PM Thank *you*! It's really tasty fruit. If you see it in the market, be sure to try it.

The photos were taken with a point-and-shoot on macro setting. The fruit was on a white cutting board in front of a window.

Tiki Heaven - Frankie's Tiki Room

Dec 4th 2008 11:50AM Tiki + Vegas sounds like a match made in heaven. But surely it's been done before?

If you're in the Bay Area, check out the most awesome (and only) tiki bar in Alameda, Forbidden Island:

Cranberries - A Crash Course

Nov 17th 2008 1:48PM Cranberries or rhubarb add such a nice tangy bite to sweeter fruits in any dish. I've been making Smitten Kitchen's apple cake with the addition of cranberries and it's absolutely delish.

Baked apples and cranberries also make a great topping for German pancakes, in a crumble or on ice cream.

Hard Times? Spam's There For You

Nov 17th 2008 1:41PM LinC, good for you!

Spam is kind of gross if you think about it too much, but put it in scrambled eggs or stir-fry and it's mighty tasty.

Chikoo - Ingredient Spotlight

Nov 17th 2008 1:37PM Interesting! I've never heard of chikoo. I'll have to look for it in the Indian markets here.

New way to store the kitchen towel

Aug 20th 2008 12:08PM I keep one threaded through a drawer handle next to the sink. Using the oven handle means you have to find another place for the towel if you're opening the oven door. I can see this as handy for holding a small side towel from a belt loop, though.

Chocolate bananas leap from screen to grill and back again

Aug 20th 2008 2:25AM Haven't tried it yet, but I surely will! So very tempting to do it right now in the middle of the night.

Milk, meat, and mini-cows

Aug 20th 2008 2:10AM My goat-share farmer has offered to lend me a couple of the smaller does to "mow" my city yard. Except they'd also clear out the flower beds and vegetable garden. And the city bureaucracy would probably have a field day if a neighbor complained.
