Sep 4th 2010 8:28AM For my oldest,a senior at Virginia Tech, we prepare all summer working together to save for that dreaded Fall semester tuition. Talking about which classes and professors she would love to have and the back up one's just in case.
The next two are seniors at Woodbridge High and we discuss more the plans AFTER school. Then try to work out which electives would help them meet their goals. We get new clothes, shoes, and just notebooks, pens, and pencils for the first day. We have often tried to buy ahead and were frustrated with picky teacher demands and tons of unneeded supplies for the year.
The youngest is pre-k this year and we started by meeting his teacher, reading books about school, and then writing the teacher a note. He wrote Dear Miss Nora, and his name along with making a picture of himself with a backpack. He dictated to me the rest "I won't be shy. I will have fun at school."
Here's hoping to a great school year for all!
