DIY & Save: Pay Less for Cable

Oct 1st 2009 9:53AM I never have had cable. Right now I'm using Netflix for my movies and getting 20+ free channels with a $30 TV top 'rabbit ears' antenna and I listen to a lot of FM radio. Oh, and did I mention I read a lot.

Daily DIY: De-Scuff Your Leather Couch

Sep 23rd 2009 11:15AM I'd be very careful using a pencil eraser on my LCD screen. Some erasers contain a grit that will irreparably mess up your screen. And even brand-new erasers can become hard and leave a nasty streak behind. I really don't think this tip is worth the risk.

DIY & Save: Cut $500 a Month Painlessly

Jul 24th 2009 2:19PM It seems like every CFL bulb I've tried over the last couple of years lasts less than 12 months. I can't afford to save that much money

Win a LaCie Rugged and iPod nano from PowerMax

Dec 11th 2008 9:49AM My wife does a lot of photography with her Nikon and it'd be great for her to have a backup for her Macbook. The last disk I burned was a backup of OTR show files.

iPhone the most popular ebook reader

Oct 3rd 2008 2:58PM I really don't think that number of downloaded items bought has much bearing on who's using a reader. I use a Palm Z22 after retiring my IIIxe a few months ago. I deal with text files I've downloaded from all over - from Project Gutenberg to usenet. I think I'm far from alone.

Hot dogs to die for

Aug 4th 2008 3:45PM When I was a kid (about 40 years ago) a pretty common weekend meal was hotdogs with American cheese slipped into a slash in the hotdog and wrapped in bacon held on with toothpicks then baked in the oven. Mmmmm, almost as good as liverwurst and baloney fried with onions...

When to trash your peanut butter

May 27th 2008 2:20PM When I was in summer camp as a kid - long, long ago - we had those super-sized jars of government issued peanut butter on the dining hall tables. This was a hot summer camp with kids smearing peanut butter all over everything. I'm not sure, but I think the jars had American flags with 30 stars on them.

White Castle burgers $.27 for 1 hour and 27 minutes today

May 27th 2008 2:14PM Alas, the nearest is about 1 and half hours away. I've thought more than once, that this would be a good brand to open in my area. The Rust Belt and Sliders - what's more appropriate?

Do you engage in "risky eating behaviors"?

Apr 9th 2008 2:40PM I can remember when "risky eating" was just called eating. Tbe only thing risky was getting caught by mom as you sneaked a taste out of the bowl. Now I have to boil my fingers before I eat cheese!
