Sep 7th 2010 9:00PM My problem always is appropriate Anniversary cards for friends, relatives & children. Those marriages aren't always "over the top after 25 - 50 years" so it's very hard to get one to say, "I remember your day & want to honor you", without mushy sentiments or simply, "Happy Anniversary" (too cold).
Also, how about the anniversary of an adoption--in our family it's called a "Gotcha Day" & it's our opportunity to celebrate the day he/she joined our family--the day we "Gotcha".
Shopping for cards should be a pleasure but sometimes it's long, hard work!
Feb 6th 2010 4:36PM I know I read somewhere that you should only put in enough detergent to be able to see a small amount of bubbles on top of the water--not suds coating the whole top. Of course, you have to be sure you've waited until the powder has dissolved or the liquid has dispersed.
Squiggles, funny you said that about not hanging laundry out in February--I had just come inside from the umbrella clothesline in the back yard where I had dried towels & washcloths! Guess I need to add I'm in Houston! Love it--nothing like the smell of clothes from the line. I hang underwear, towels, sheets & blankets, weather permitting.
Jan 10th 2010 10:09AM My daughter broke her arm scaling a door frame about 30 years ago so I guess she was a pioneer in this sport. Short career, though...out of respect for her health, our budget & the house she was discouraged from continuing this adventure early on.
Get up, get out & exercise outside--houses aren't made for this!
Jun 8th 2009 6:35PM How irresponsible of you, Tom to so blatantly suggest this as a thrill for anyone who just might possibly not have thought of it!
It's obvious that you want to make your mark with this article but at what cost? What good is the "Greening of America" if articles like this are starting impressionable children on a disastrous path?
Sep 23rd 2008 9:01PM Don't any of you have the Automated Postal Center (APC) in your Post Office Lobby? I love it! Takes credit/debit cards only but you just set your package on the scale, touch the screen to begin & follow the prompts.
They offer options & if you are looking for the cheapest be sure to notice the "More Options" button at the bottom of the screen. No need to wait for a window clerk except for a very few types of mail & the lines are usually very short. Your'e in & out in just minutes. So easy!
