Wouldn't it be fun to have a spa day with your bridesmaids? Since this is an expensive luxury, you could thank them with some homemade spa products instead. Try some of these:

• Facial products: Make a cleanser, scrub, mask, and moisturizer to pamper your bridesmaids.
• Foot products: Create a soak, scrub, and butter -- those feet will be worn out from dancing at the wedding!
• Body products: Make bath salts, body scrub, hand scrub, and body oil, so she can be soft all over.

When I was young, my older sister had a gum wrapper chain wrapped around her bedpost. Every stick of gum she'd chewed was memorialized somewhere in that chain. I was endlessly fascinated with it and loved to watch her fold the wrappers just so.

Now there's a new twist on the gum wrapper chains. You can make a colorful bracelet out of Starburst wrappers. You'll need 30-35 Starburst wrappers -- so start saving up! This is a quick and easy process that even kids can enjoy. My son is going to make some to give to his friends (along with a resealable baggie full of Starburst candies... because we can't eat that many).

My husband has a collection of leather belts that sit in his dresser drawer. He wears one belt until it's falling apart and basically useless before he uses another one. Throwing them away seems like a waste -- after all, there are still some usable pieces of leather that could be repurposed into something new-to-you.

Fungus amungus over on Instructables recycles leather belts into bracelets. Fungus uses a laser cutter to make a design on the leather to give it a new look, and then hammers in some heavy-duty snaps, so that the bracelet can snap on the wrist.

I like the leather bracelet idea, as it sure beats throwing away a belt just because a part of it is worn out. I imagine there are other things to make from old belts, such as replacement purse straps, or maybe even leather earrings. What do you recycle your leather belts into?

New babies feed so often, and new moms are so tired that each feed seems to run into the next; I have a hard enough time remembering what day it is, let alone when and how my little one last ate. I'm notorious for forgetting which side I'm on, so I wear a hair elastic around my wrist and switch it with each feed as a reminder. This takes care of getting her on the right side, but I'm still helpless tracking when and for how long she ate.

This is where a nursing bracelet could really help. If you're demand-feeding, it's important that you know how often your babe ate so that they are getting enough through the course of the day.

I love my bead board! I cannot imagine making jewelry without it. If you haven't invested -- and I use the term loosely, as bead boards are cheap! -- in a bead board yet, go for it. It will bring the ease of jewelry-making to a whole new level for you.

What features do I love about my bead board?

• The flocked surface keeps the beads from rolling around too much.
• I can create multi-strand necklaces due to the different grooves on the bead board.
• Being able to make more than one bracelet at a time is a lifesaver, because as I am looking for beads to make one bracelet, I usually come up with another idea or two on the way. The five slots on the bracelet section lets me lay out the patterns for all of the ideas that inspire me. This is especially helpful when I am making gifts of my jewelry. It also works well for multi-strand bracelets.
• There are enough separated sections for me to keep some beads at my fingertips, so when I know a pattern and want to lay out the whole necklace or bracelet before stringing, I can have the beads handy.
• Those same sections allow me to lay out all of the components for earrings, clasps for necklaces and bracelets, and any crimping beads I may need.
• Because the grooves are marked with measurements, I always know how long my necklaces and bracelets will be. This is important if you are trying to make your jewelry a standard length, or if you are making a custom fitting piece.

I'm completely obsessed with the Twilight book series by Stephenie Meyer. Thankfully, I'm not the only one! It's now an international phenomenon, and is currently beating out Harry Potter in some categories of book sales. A movie based on the first book, Twilight, is currently being filmed.

I recently met up with some other Twi-hards for a Twilight Moms get-together dinner. Some of us decided to bring each other gifts. I crafted up some Jacob Black versus Edward Cullen bookmarks. My friend Karla made glittery "E" is for Edward necklaces with cute little red hearts. My new friend Aimee brought along some awesome sweets, including "Dazzle Malted Milk Balls", all enclosed in a paper bag with a photo of the first book in the series' cover glued on the front.

Bring a bit o' good luck to you or someone you care about this St. Patrick's Day: make a shamrock bookmark. It's pretty easy, with instructions and photos over at Squidoo. The one and only item you'll need for this project is flexible, green-colored wire. The Squidoo project relies on crafting wire from WigJig (who I think submitted the idea), but anything similar will do. As for tools, just a pair of skillfully-wielded pliers will do the trick.

Note the shape you're aiming for here is the traditional shamrock with three leaves, not the lucky four-leafed clover. Why? Because three leaves are a lot easier to bend into a pleasingly symmetrical shape, that's why!

Continuing to recraft finds from the game closet (last week was Monopoly wine charms) here is another easy project that uses old dominoes to make a bracelet.

A single domino could be used as a pendant on a necklace as a gift for someone with a favorite number or a birthday present by using the numbers to represent their age. Wooden dominoes like the ones that I used would also make great coasters by gluing them together (like the Scrabble tile coasters).

Yes, folks, it's that time of year: the latest roughly-seasonal issue of The AntiCraft is up. The current issue is the Samhain (Winter) 2007 issue, full of cold-weather weirdness. As always, we have to start with a warning: the projects on the site are not "adult" in the naughty sense, but the language is, so if you're easily offended, The AntiCraft is probably not for you.

The newest issue is spider-obsessed, there have been changes to the site in the form of forums, and the ladies of The AntiCraft are also starting to peel back the covers on their new book, which will be released in a few weeks. In relation to the book, there's a shiny new extremely odd contest for you to try your hand at.

I am mad. Why am I mad? Because I can't crochet and I want this awesomely adorable crochet beaded bracelet. The instructions and a picture tutorial can be found at the futuregirl craft blog. I can not say enough how much I want this bracelet! It is too cute for words and I can't make it! WAAAA!

Anyway, for those of you that can crochet please check out the tutorial and then make one for me. Okay, just kidding but I want you to know how awesome it is. This would be a great gift for any fun, craft loving, handmade jewelry lover in your life.

What makes this bracelet so great is that it is washable and so can be worn during all your summer activities that might crud it up. The pattern and pictures are copyrighted so I can't show it to you here. You'll just have to go check it out for yourself to see how awesome it is. Wait, did I mention this is awesome?

Handmade jewelry is my absolute favorite thing to make. You can create an elegant necklace or bracelet simply and easily without too much cost involved. All you need are few things you can find at any craft store, half an hour or less, a little patience and a flat surface.

We will be using beads for this project so before you begin you need to choose your beads. I like to use a few different sizes for my necklace but you can go with all the same size if you want to. I also like to have a few larger decorative beads as well as smaller beads to make up the body of the piece and set off the larger ones. Be sure a choose beads with colors that go well together. However, they do not all have to be the same color. Examples of what I am talking about can be seen in my example project.

Jodie, a fellow crafty blogger at Ric-Rac, made some fun, easy bracelets using plastic knitting needles and a pan of boiling water. Its a fun and fairly simple way to show your love for knitting or simply for cool and slightly wacky accessories.

By simply boiling the knitting needles to soften the plastic so that it is pliable, she was able to form them around a form to create a cool bracelet. This would make the perfect gift for your awesome and trendy friend that just happens to be a knitting freak.

She does warn that you may want to have a pan you set aside just for this project because the plastic may let chemicals into the pan. As crafters we are more than used to having extras of many things that are just for crafts so that shouldn't be a big deal should it?

The next time you are at your local craft store, pick up some plastic knitting needles and give this one a try. Have fun but be careful since this does involve boiling water and hot plastic.
