Progress Lighting ceiling light fixtures recalled

triangle red recall signThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Progress Lighting, has announced a voluntary recall of about 7,500 indoor ceiling light fixtures, due to a fall and injury hazard posed to consumers if the cable that supports the light fixture fails. Progress Lighting has receive five reports of the fixtures falling, including an incident where two consumers suffered bruises.

The International Series indoor light fixtures were manufactured in China and sold by electrical and lighting distributors and at The Home Depot stores from January 2005 through March 2008 for between $290 and $1,150. The fixtures were sold under the Progress Lighting and Thomasville Lighting brand names. Please see the CPSC press release for model numbers involved in the recall.

Consumers are advised to remove the glass from the recalled Thomasville or Progress Lighting ceiling lights and contact Progress Lighting at (877) 369-4548 or www.progresslighting.com to schedule a free inspection and replacement of the ceiling fixture.

Log Swings recalled due to fall hazard

diy life recall triangle alert signThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Far East Brokers and Consultants Inc., has announced a voluntary recall of about 750 log swings, due to a fall hazard posed to consumers if a missing nail connecting the back of the log chair to the seat separates from the seat while in use. Far East Brokers has received six reports of the log chair separating, including three reports of minor injuries.

Manufactured in China and sold at Grand Union Family Markets, Ingle's Markets, VG's Food Center, Plumb's Valu-Rite Foods, and Central Shoprite stores from February 2008 through May 2008 for about $150, the recall involves a log swing that hangs from a log frame. Outdoor benches recalled due to fall hazard

red triangle diy life recall alert signThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores, has announced a voluntary recall of about 4,500 Best Value park benches, due to a fall hazard posed to consumers if the benches become unstable and break.

Manufactured in China and sold at Jo-Ann stores from January 2008 through March 2008 for about $30, this recall involves Best Value outdoor benches with a green metal frame and wooden slats. Please see the CPSC press release for more information.

High-Boy Folding Beach Chairs recalled due to fall hazard

diy life recall alert signThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Rio Brands, has issued a voluntary recall of about 800 Rio Beach High-Boy Folding Beach Chairs. The rear leg of the chair can break, posing a fall hazard to consumers. Rio Brands has received one report of an incident involving minor bruises.

Manufactured in China and sold at retail stores from January 2008 through March 2008 for between $40 and $50, the recalled chairs have aluminum tubing frames, striped or solid color fabric slings, and wood arms with an attached storage pouch with a cell phone pocket. Hammocks recalled due to fall hazard

recall alert sign DIY LifeIn cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, LivingXL has announced a voluntary recall of about 400 Multi Texteline Hammocks and Striped Quilted Hammocks. The hammock features a metal frame that can crack and break, causing a consumer to fall to the ground. LivingXL has received 3 reports of injuries caused by the hammock collapsing after the frame broke or cracked.

Manufactured in India and sold by LivingXL's catalog or at www.LivingXL.com from May 2007 through October 2007 for between $170 and $200, the recalled hammocks have a 5 piece beige steel frame and a cloth hammock. Please check the CPSC press release for model numbers involved in the recall.

Recall: Outdoor ceiling light fixtures fall off mounting

outdoor-ceiling-light-fixture-recall-signThe U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Progress Lighting, has announced a voluntary recall of about 1,000 Progress Lighting outdoor ceiling light fixtures. The fixtures can fall and injure nearby persons, due to the fact that a weld that affixes a mounting bracket to the ceiling pan can fail. Although no injuries have been reported, the firm has received six reports of fixtures falling.

Manufactured in China, and sold at electrical and lighting distributors nationwide from January 2007 through November 2007 for about $200, this recall involves only Progress Lighting ceiling mounted outdoor light fixtures with model numbers P5526-20 and P5526-44. You can find the model number written on the product packaging.
