DuPage County (/ d uː ˈ p eɪ dʒ / doo-PAYJ) is a county in the U.S. state of Illinois, and one of the collar counties of the Chicago metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census , the population was 932,877, making it Illinois' second-most populous county .
Initially, the court was not within any existing judicial circuit, and appeals from the court were taken directly to the United States Supreme Court. In 1837, Congress created the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, placing it in Chicago, Illinois and giving it jurisdiction over the District of Illinois, 5 Stat. 176.
There are 25 judicial circuits in the state, each comprising one or more of Illinois' 102 counties. The jurisdiction of seven of these circuits courts are solely within the confines of a single county; these are Cook, Kane, Will, DuPage, Lake, McHenry (all Chicago metropolitan area counties), and St. Clair in Metro East.

The building served as the seat of government for DuPage County, Illinois from its construction in 1896, until a new courthouse was built in 1990.
