A Northwest Airlines Airbus A320. Northwest Airlines was a major United States airline which existed from 1926 until 2010, when it merged with Delta Air Lines and became part of Delta Air Lines fleet. At the time of the merger it had a total of 309 aircraft. It was also the last U.S. airline to have a dedicated cargo fleet and routes.
On April 24, 2007, Mesaba Airlines emerged from bankruptcy protection and was officially acquired by Northwest Airlines. With the merging of Northwest Airlines into Delta Air Lines, Mesaba underwent numerous changes as a subsidiary of the new company. A portion of the Saab 340 fleet was relocated to Atlanta.
The aircraft was eventually transferred to Delta Air Lines, which merged Northwest in 2009. While in service with the airline, it was known as Delta Ship 6301. It continued in passenger service until it was retired on September 9, 2015. It was transferred to the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta, Georgia, where it remains on display.
