It is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 10, Highway 13 and Highway 97. The population was 18,929 at the 2020 census; of this, 18,119 were in Wood County and 810 were in Marathon County. [3]

93001166 [1] Added to NRHP. November 4, 1993. The Marshfield Central Avenue Historic District is part of the old downtown of Marshfield, Wisconsin. The original wooden downtown burned in a huge fire in 1887. Some of the brick buildings built immediately after the fire still stand - especially near the railroad.
The 119th Central Wisconsin State Fair kicks off Aug. 23 and runs through Aug. 28 at the Marshfield fairgrounds.
July 5, 2000. The Pleasant Hill Residential Historic District is a largely intact old neighborhood a few blocks east of Marshfield's downtown. Most of the contributing properties in the district were built between 1880 and 1949, including large, stylish homes built by businessmen and professionals, and smaller vernacular homes built by laborers.
