It began flights between Calgary and Atlanta, WestJet's expected joint-venture carrier Delta Air Lines' largest hub, in March 2019. WestJet is the only carrier operating a direct route between Calgary and Atlanta. The airline also announced flights between Toronto and Barcelona, its second destination in mainland Europe which began in May 2019.
In May 2024, Delta will introduce eight zones, starting with "pre-boarding" and "first-class" as zone one. The "main cabin" groups are zones five to seven, with "basic economy" as zone eight.
Eastern Air Lines and Delta Air Lines had previously occupied the hangar. Delta's lease originally was scheduled to expire in 2010, but the airline returned the lease to the City of Atlanta in 2005 as part of its bankruptcy settlement. The city collected an insurance settlement of almost $900,000 due to the cancellation.
