Country Hoedown was a Canadian country music television series which aired on CBC Television from 1956 to 1965. Premise [ edit ] Gordie Tapp hosted the series and also performed in sketches portraying characters such as Cousin Clem which he later reprised for Hee Haw .
Career. In 1956, he began performing as a rhythm guitarist on the CBC Television show, Country Hoedown. The Tommy Hunter Show began as a CBC Radio program in 1960, replacing the long-running variety show The Happy Gang, and went on to replace Country Hoedown on CBC Television in 1965; Hunter's show was picked up by TNN in 1983 and ran on CBC until 1992.
Capital Hoedown was a Canadian outdoor country music festival that took place in August in Ottawa, Ontario. Founded in 2010 by Denis Benoit, the three-day annual festival was one of the largest in North America, [1] however it was cancelled after only two years.
