Collectively, these stations are known as Delta College Public Media and they serve an audience of 1.2 million people in mid-Michigan. The college's student-run newspaper is the Delta Collegiate and has been published since the college opened in 1961. Early life and education. Skewes was born in Glastonbury, Connecticut, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in forensic science from the University of New Haven in 1979, going on to receive a Master of Science in Poultry Physiology from the University of Florida in 1982 and a Ph.D. in Animal Physiology from Virginia Tech in 1985.
